GAD-7 Anxiety Screen
Validated 7-question anxiety screen.
About this tool
The GAD-7 (Generalised Anxiety Disorder 7-item scale) is the standard brief screening tool for anxiety in primary care. It identifies likely generalised anxiety disorder and also performs well as a screen for panic disorder, social anxiety, and PTSD.
Like PHQ-9, GAD-7 is a screen — not a diagnosis — and is widely used to track treatment response.

Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between anxiety and worry?
Worry is a normal response to life events. Generalised anxiety disorder involves excessive, hard-to-control worry plus physical symptoms (restlessness, fatigue, poor sleep) most days for 6+ months.
What treatments work?
CBT and SSRIs/SNRIs both have strong evidence. Lifestyle (sleep, exercise, reducing caffeine and alcohol) supports both.
